I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge will give me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved his appearing 2 Timothy 4:7,8
Oliver Edward Coleman, born on July 13, 1950, was the second of four children born to Deacon Albert and the late Mrs. Florine Coleman in Alexandria, Virginia.
Oliver accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He graduated from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia and achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. Oliver was the Virginia State Pummel Horse Champion in 1978. He was an instructor and held a Black-Belt in Kenpo (Japanese Style) karate. He also obtained a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) from the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Oliver graduated from the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia. He was known for his stories and having the ability to make people smile. Oliver married Delphine Una Coleman and had two children, Adam (Candice) and April (Justin). Oliver was a Vietnam Era Veteran and worked for the federal government for twenty-five years. Oliver and his wife own ADOA Experts Inc. and have been in business for 21 years.
Oliver touched the lives of many in Belize, El Salvador, and elsewhere with his unique skills of using prayer with acupuncture treatments. Missionary work was his passion. Oliver was blessed to attend several churches in his lifetime including Ebenezer Baptist Church, Alfred Street Baptist Church, Full Gospel African American Episcopal (AME) Zion Church, and Little Mine Road Baptist Church. Oliver was ordained to the ministry in Tulsa, Oklahoma and with his wife, went on to co-found Beth-El Christian Center, Woodford, Virginia. He faithfully preached and ministered at Beth-El until his death. He conducted monthly Bible Study and 5th Sunday Services at the Bowling Green Healthcare Center.
Oliver will be remembered for his love of God, humor, and ability to talk to and accept anyone that came across his path. He loved talking to and joking with family and Beth-El Christian Center members.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his father: Deacon Albert Coleman, wife: Delphine, two children: Adam (Candice) and April (Justin): three grandchildren (and one on the way): Astrid, Lilyana, and Jordan, two sisters: LaVerne and Eleanor (Archie), one brother, Albert (Karen), two nephews: Michael and Norvel (Corletta), three great-nieces and nephews: Xavier, Miles, and Kianna, one mother-in-law: Sarah James, two sisters-in-law: Eva James and Annie Washington (Haywood),one adopted granddaughter, Brittany Denno and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January, 12, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 165476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. A celebration of life will be held at 1 :00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church 31222 Old Dawn Road, Hanover, Virginia 23069 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Marvin Fields will be officiating and Reverend Bruce Claiborne will be delivering the eulogy.
Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia.
