William “Bill” Hurd Jr. of Arlington, Virginia, passed the evening of Friday, January 27, 2017 at Virginia Hospital Center after a quick and aggressive battle with prostate cancer. Bill, born on July 23, 1950 was the son of William “Bill” Hurd and Mariette Bowles Hurd.

A local man, He grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and went to T.C. Williams High School and he graduated from Georgetown University. He served in the Virginia National Guard and completed his line of duty with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following in his father’s footsteps he became deeply ingrained in the Northern Virginia community and was a part of various Democratic organizations, as well as being a baseball umpire, and working as a tax accountant for H & R Block.

After his father’s passing in 2009 he and his first wife Nancy moved to her hometown of Elmore, Minnesota. Nancy passed in 2010. Bill became very active in the community and was elected Mayor of Elmore. He was very active in the local Methodist Church, and he was huge supporter of the library and was a majority donor in honor of Nancy. Some of his favorited hobbies included politics, sports, and a hand of Texas Hold’em. He also had an affinity for cigars. Bill had a great love of dogs including the newest addition to the family, Prince. In December of 2015, Bill moved back to Virginia.

He is surpassed by his wife Elizabeth Haley-Hopkins Clark Hurd of Arlington, his step-daughter Courtney Dozier of Arlington, her husband Sean, as well as his brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Joyce Henderson of Chanhassen, MN, sister-in-law Bonny Burner of Greensboro, NC, sister-in-law Beverly Wilk of Grandy, NC, and brother and sister–in-law Jay and Sandra Flanagan of Chesapeake, VA.

The Funeral Service will be held on February 11, 2017 at 1 in the afternoon at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Arlington, Virginia he will then be interred at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia next to his father and mother. Since Bill loved animals we ask that in lieu of Flowers donations be made to Paws for Seniors an organization dedicated to getting older pets adopted.

Finally, we ask that our Heavenly Father keep Bill in your arms and give us strength and healing as we remain behind. Amen.

Robert Bruce “Bob” Reppa Jr

October 12, 1950 – December 3, 2002 @ 52   Memorial FindAGrave Link Supervisor, Grey Eagle Corporation Bob Reppa of Alexandria, VA, died December 3, 2002, at Alexandria INOVA Hospital after a four-month illness with lymphoma. He was born in Tulsa, OK and lived with his military family on many Army posts in the United States and in Germany. He came to Alexandria in 1955 and graduated from T.C. Williams High School. A graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park, he was an honor graduate in history and a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. While at the University of Maryland, he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in 1969, trained at Parris Island and served for six years, most of which were at Andrews Air Force Base. Bob was employed as a Salesman with the Equitable Life Assurance Company. Later he spent two years in El Guryat, Saudi Arabia with the Gray International Company.
